Police make arrests in Pine Bluff robbery of elderly siblings

Officers arrested three men Wednesday morning wanted in the robbery of two elderly residents last Monday, according to the Pine Bluff Police Department.

Police received a tip and found Justin Cartwright, 24, Corderro Foster, 26, and Clifton Chambers, 27, at the Plaza Hotel at 2 Convention Center Drive in Pine Bluff about 8:30 a.m., according to department spokesman Richard Wegner.

The three men stole an undisclosed amount of cash from Will Wright, 81, and a purse from his sister Mary Franklin, 84, at Franklin's resident at 1300 E. 34th Ave. after the siblings returned from Brookshire's, according to a Pine Bluff police report.

Officers transported the suspects to the Jefferson County jail where Cartwright and Foster later escaped but were recaptured about 1:28 p.m., Jefferson County sheriff's office spokesman Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr. said.
