ALL ARKANSAS PREPS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: 6-TD effort shows Burnes' versatility

Little Rock Christian junior running back LaDarius Burnes is this week’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All-Arkansas Preps player of the week.

Burnes accounted for 195 all-purpose yards in the Warriors’ 49-20 victory at Mills on Friday night. He had 19 carries for 92 yards and 5 touchdowns and caught 3 passes for 103 yards and 1 touchdown.

Burnes will be honored by the Little Rock Touchdown Club on Monday afternoon at the Embassy Suites in Little Rock. Former Arkansas football players Ron Calcagni and Jimmy Walker are the guest speakers.

This season, Burnes has rushed for 660 yards and 10 touchdowns on 130 carries. He’s also caught 40 passes for 496 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Little Rock Christian (3-6, 3-3) hosts Little Rock Fair (1-8, 0-6) on Friday night. The Warriors can clinch the No. 4 seed in the Class 5A playoffs from the 5A-Central with a victory or a Beebe loss to Sylvan Hills today.
