Police: Little Rock discount store robbed by knife wielder for 2nd time in 10 days; holdups likely connected

A Little Rock discount store was robbed at knifepoint Saturday night for the second time in less than 10 days, authorities said.

Officers were called to Dollar General, 3500 John Barrow Road, shortly after 8 p.m., according to a Little Rock Police Department report. A store manager told police that the robber with a "large knife" approached her while she was at the register.

The 26-year-old said she threw an unspecified amount of cash onto the counter after the assailant pointed the knife at her. He then gathered the money and fled on foot, going east from the location, according to authorities.

The robber was described as a black male standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a gray hoodie and black jeans and covered his face with sunglasses and a blue bandana.

It's the second holdup reported at the business within two weeks and the third robbery reported of the Little Rock discount-store chain in which an assailant used a large knife since Jan 26.

The Dollar General at 7710 Colonel Glenn Road location was robbed at 9 a.m. Tuesday by an assailant with a large knife, according to a separate police report.

Little Rock police spokesman Steve Moore said Monday that the department believes the three may be related.

No suspects were named in any of the reports, and no arrests have been made.
