Smallmouth joy

Unrestrained joy. For years, this was one of my favorite spring and summer haunts, but in recent years I’ve discovered how good it fishes in cold weather. The smallmouth bass are almost always big, fat and surprisingly aggressive, and in winter there’s almost never anyone else on the river. You can fish all day and not see another soul.
